Research Project: How I Live Now. Pt 2

*POSTER OF HOW I LIVE NOW*
What do they tell you about the film? Genre, target audience?
The poster tells me that it would be about this girl who has fallen in love and the slogan tells me that her love would lead her home. This genre looks to be dangerous, maybe about war as the background is red which indicates danger, also her facial expression showing that she is lost with her thoughts, she is unsure of what is going on or about to happen. The title ‘How I Live Now’ indicates that there must be a change of how this main female character is living, possibility of her moving to a dangerous place, in this case it would be the girl trying to survive during an ongoing war. The target audience may be for males and females because the red is a masculine colour however the main character is a female who is has fallen in love which helps find her way home, many females are stereotypically interested in these heartfelt movies.

What methods are used to ‘sell’ the film?
There are a few methods on this poster that sell the film for example, if female character is well known, that will attract her target audience and more people to this movie then this is called celebrity endorsements. The way she is positioned also as she looks lost as that will make the audience have the curiosity on why she is confused. The colour also shows that it looks like a movie with action as there is red, is it blood? Is it death? The only way to find out is for them to watch the movie. Not forgetting the title as it makes the audience think about what is the story behind it.

What information do they give you about the film?
At the top it says what movies the producer has produced, that could encourage people to buy the movie, also the main characters name as that could attract her target audience. The writing at the bottoms gives most of the production screw and actors.

Are they successful at making you want to see the film? Why?
It is successful at wanting me to watch the movie because the title and slogan makes me think about what this film maybe about, also the reason why the main character looks confused in the poster, it could be a life lesson that we, the audience, can learn from.

Poster, Trailer and Website

*PRINTSCREEN OF THE POSTER*

What do they tell you about the film? Genre, target audience?
trailer tells you a lot about the film because that is what a trailer is meant to do, give the audience what they will be seeing and show what the movie is about as there are different clips on the film that show and what it’s about for example at the beginning it show a female entering a new country and that tells us she knows nothing about the country. There is some romance as there are scenes where the main characters express their love for each other. In the trailer it shows soldiers raiding their homes with guns, this tells us there will be action/ war. The genre is shown in the trailer and the audience would be for people who like action/romance.

What methods are used to ‘sell’ the film?
Celebrity Endorsement is used as the characters are known and have been in other big movies

What information do they give you about the film?
The trailer tells you what the viewer will see and give hints and clues about the plot, it also makes the audience anxious to see if the lovers find their way to be with eachother.

Are they successful at making you want to see the film? Why?
The movie is very successful at wanting me want to see it because there are many violent scenes as a male I do like watching some action, by watching the trailer there are many action in this movies as there is a war going on.
